Ecotic Foundation
will be present at the first edition of the
Congress and Trade Fair of Andalusian Installers (COFIAN)
to be held on October 6 and 7 at Fibes, Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones de Sevilla. During this meeting,
Ecotic
will present the integral solutions that the
Ecoinstaladores
program offers to installers and distributors for the recycling of their waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), especially focused on the areas of air conditioning and refrigeration.
Air conditioning and refrigeration equipment presents specific environmental problems, due to some of the components and substances they contain, which make it essential to correctly install and uninstall the equipment, as well as to recycle their waste, and which make them hazardous waste due to their polluting potential.
Appliances such as air conditioners or industrial refrigeration equipment contain oils and chlorofluorocarbon gases (CFCs), considered as substances with ozone depletion potential (ODP) and global warming potential (GWP), and hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs), fluorinated gases considered as greenhouse gases due to their warming potential, one of the factors contributing to climate change affecting our planet.
The extensive regulations in force establish that installers are considered waste producers and therefore have a series of legal responsibilities that they must comply with. These include the obligation to carry out an adequate installation or de-installation of the equipment, complying with the technical protocols that make up good professional practices and avoiding emissions into the atmosphere, the delivery of the waste to an authorized manager, or the registration as waste producers in the Register of Producers of the corresponding Autonomous Community.
However, the main obstacle for the correct management of WEEE faced by installers is the abundant and complex regulations, which sometimes produce situations of doubt or uncertainty. One of the options available to them is to manage their waste through a Collective System of Extended Producer Responsibility, such as
Ecotic
Ecotic, a non-profit organization dedicated to establishing, developing and managing waste collection, treatment and control systems.
Ecoinstallers, the global solution for recycling
As a comprehensive WEEE management solution for installers and distributors,
Ecotic
promotes the
Ecoinstaladores
program, with the support of the country’s main industry associations. Through this program, the entity offers training on the proper deinstallation of equipment and waste management, and recognizes the commitment of those installers and companies that perform responsible deinstallation and comply with established quality standards and good practices.
By joining
Ecoinstaladores
Through Ecoinstalladores, installers can enjoy benefits such as financial compensation for the delivery of complete appliances (outdoor and indoor unit), derived from the costs of reverse logistics and storage of waste, or the free collection of waste at their own facilities.
Installers who are members of the program can also delegate to Ecotic the necessary paperwork for the correct management of waste, such as the Environmental Identification Number (NIMA) and the treatment contract with an authorized manager, and to obtain a badge that can be used in their establishments and vehicles recognizing good professional practices in the management of equipment.
All installers and distributors who would like to know more about the program
