Salvador Escodaa leading company in the supply of products for air conditioning, water, gas, renewable energy and insulation installations, and Fundación Ecotichave established a collaboration agreement to promote the recycling of air-conditioning equipment waste through the delegations of Salvador Escoda in different parts of the country.
As part of the program Ecoinstallers powered by EcoticIn addition, selective collection containers have been installed in the following branches of Salvador Escoda in Badalona, Barberá del Vallès and Sant Boi de Llobregat (Catalonia), San Fernando de Henares (Madrid), Paterna (Valencia), Seville, Malaga and Jerez de la Frontera (Andalusia).
New Ecotic collection points will be added soon in the rest of Salvador Escoda‘s branches, with the aim of increasing the collection network available to installers nationwide.
Installers will be able to deliver complete air conditioning units (indoor and outdoor unit) free of charge, thus ensuring compliance with their obligations regarding the correct environmental management of waste established in Royal Decree 110/2015, and will be able to obtain financial compensation for their contribution to good professional practices and environmental conservation.
Proper recycling of air conditioners is a key element for environmental protection. This is due to the presence of elements such as refrigerant gases that cause global warming, other gases that degrade the ozone layer such as R-22 (banned since 2010) and still found in some old appliances, or oils containing fluorinated gases.
However, despite the high potential for contamination, the figures for the collection of waste from these appliances in our country are far from the optimum desirable levels, so that the proper channeling of waste through installation professionals and distributors is crucial to increase the quantities of correctly recovered appliances.
Maria Escoda, communications manager of Salvador EscodaIn this case, he emphasized “our company’s commitment to continue promoting initiatives that provide added value to our installer customers, in this case by facilitating recycling and compliance with their obligations through our branches as waste delivery points”.
Andreu Vilà, CEO of Ecotic, thanked “the involvement of leading companies such as Salvador Escoda that are committed to promoting the culture of sustainability among professionals, who are undoubtedly strategic players due to their privileged access to waste”. In his opinion, achieving this commitment “is essential to achieve increased levels of recycling of air conditioners, and avoid the enormous environmental damage that inadequate management can cause”.
