The initiative is being expanded to all eight Andalusian provinces to continue supporting installation companies in the proper management of end-of-life air conditioning equipment.
Fundación ECOTIC Clima and FAEL (Andalusian Federation of Household Appliances and Home Equipment) have launched the second edition of the ECOINSTALADORES Programme, an initiative aimed at strengthening the air conditioning sector’s commitment to the proper management of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).
Following the positive results achieved during the first edition, which was implemented in the provinces of Almería, Cádiz, Córdoba and Granada, the programme is now being extended to all eight Andalusian provinces, adding Huelva, Jaén, Málaga and Seville.
The programme reminds installation companies of their legal and environmental responsibilities regarding the management of air conditioning units removed during replacement and installation works. These appliances contain fluorinated gases, oils, electronic boards and other components that require specific treatment in accordance with current legislation to prevent risks to both the environment and public health.
According to a study carried out by FAEL and Fundación ECOTIC Clima, 88% of installers remove the old air conditioning unit when installing a new one, making them key stakeholders in ensuring that these devices are managed responsibly once they become waste.
A comprehensive service to ensure regulatory compliance
Through the ECOINSTALADORES Programme, Fundación ECOTIC Clima provides installation companies with a comprehensive service that simplifies WEEE management while ensuring easy, free and fully compliant waste management.
Key benefits of the programme include:
- Guidance on registration as a waste producer and obtaining the NIMA identification number.
- Free collection and treatment of waste through ECOTIC Clima.
- Compliance with current legal requirements.
- Documented waste management with access to an online traceability platform.
- Financial compensation for the management and transport of collected equipment.
With this second edition, Fundación ECOTIC Clima reaffirms its commitment to supporting installation companies, helping them move towards more responsible, efficient and sustainable management of air conditioning waste.
